Nestled between Knocknarea mountain and Union forest, 3 km from Sligo town, sits Carrowmore, site of one of the oldest collections of Megalithic tombs and burial chambers, some dating to 3500 B.C. This area is said to be the first site settled by man in Ireland.This beautiful corner of Ireland is not only home to prehistoric tombs but also to Irelands foremost equestrian facility, Sligo Riding Centre It’s success and popularity among international guests and local riders alike is due to it’s excellent facilities, sympathic instructors, safe and well trained horses and, friendly staff. Sligo riding centre was established in 1971 and has been the home of all things equestrian in Sligo ever since.Many former students of our centre are now international showjumpers and riding instructors. Sligo Riding Centre is approved by the Association of Irish Riding Establishments. We offer lessons for adults and children(age 7+),of all levels from beginner to competition rider. Our aim is help riders of all levels maximise their potential and enjoy their horseriding in a professional yet friendly atmosphere.
